Fauline & Pat Mathis didn’t hesitate to step into the raft. Once everyone was seated, the guide took the raft into easy waters at first, and it looked as though they would enjoy a nice, leisurely ride. But within minutes the river turned rough, and soon the raft was careening through whitewaters, soaring past rocks and plunging into eddies with a showering spray. Fauline & Pat whooped with joy, unaware that behind them was a row of terrified. white-knuckled passengers. As far as this lively couple was concerned, they were enjoying the ride of a lifetime.
A Lively Approach
It says a lot about this husband-and-wife team that they were in their mid-fifties when they took that first wild, whitewater ride. “We wouldn’t hesitate to do it again,” says Fauline, and Pat is quick to agree. Call it natural curiosity, but these two retired math professors will tell you that they love to try new things. For Fauline & Pat, life is a wonderful adventure. Whether it’s work or play, these two believe it’s important to enjoy the ride as much as possible.
An Adventure in Learning
Both natives of Jackson County, Fauline & Pat have been married for over 40 years. They have two grown daughters and two grandsons, all of whom they treasure more than anything. Both have been active in their church and through ministries. Fauline & Pat each have master’s degrees and taught math at Chipola College, where Fauline also taught chemistry. “Between the two of us, we have 71 years of teaching experience,” says Pat. “But we’ve never stopped learning,” adds Fauline. As these two see it, that’s what makes life not only an enjoyable ride, but also an interesting and challenging adventure.
Sharing the Philosophy
That philosophy has served as the foundation of their successful real estate partnership for more than 20 years. Their shared background in guiding students towards academic achievement makes them exceptionally effective in guiding people through the process of buying or selling a home. Fauline & Pat have always known that to do so effectively requires listening to and learning from each client. Just as these two worked closely with their students in their teaching careers, they work closely with their clients to help them determine and achieve their goals. “Every person has different needs and expectations,” Pat says, “and it’s crucial to a successful transaction to find out what those are.” Adds Fauline, “by learning from our clients, we’re able to ensure them as smooth and stress-free a process as possible.”
